We are thrilled to announce British Motor Heritage’s new collaboration with StarterMotor, a non-profit charity dedicated to promoting the preservation and enjoyment of historic and classic vehicles for future generations.
StarterMotor aims to ignite a passion for these vehicles among a younger generation, facilitating access to careers in a range of professions crucial to the longevity of the sector.
StarterMotor “Our passion is to see the next generation of young people driving, maintaining and enjoying historic cars”
Through StarterMotor, young enthusiasts gain the confidence, skills, and connections they need to become lifelong custodians of Britain’s motoring legacy. They collaborate with schools, colleges and motoring organisations to facilitate training and mentorship opportunities, across a breadth of skills including restoration and maintenance.

This new partnership reflects our shared mission: to preserve the future of the British classic car industry and to support them, British Motor Heritage has committed to offering up to four young students each year the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at our manufacturing facility, as well as host dedicated factory tour days for groups of interested students.
To give the team at StarterMotor a real feel for what it’s like to work at British Motor Heritage, we hosted the team for a behind-the-scenes tour of our factory.
During the visit we got to finally meet the young classic car enthusiast – Emily Grace – one of StarterMotor’s Ambassadors and the force behind ‘Bring Back Barney’ her barn-find 1952 Morris Minor restoration project, (@bringbackbarney). We were blown away by the enthusiasm of such a young lady and the work done by her to-date, as well as her big ambitions. To help her on her journey to restore Barney, we donated two wings which she collected from us at the factory tour.

Our Commitment:
British Motor Heritage will support StarterMotor by:
- offering up to four young students each year the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at our manufacturing facility.
- hosting dedicated factory tour days for groups of students, providing them with a unique insight into the craftsmanship and heritage behind Britain’s most iconic classic cars.
Together, we are helping to ensure that the future of classic motoring is in safe, passionate, and capable hands.
Graham Payne (MD, British Motor Heritage Limited) “StarterMotor is a charity close to our heart regarding the preservation of British motoring heritage. We believe wholeheartedly in the charity’s mission to engage and empower the next generation”.
Steve Cootes (General Manager, StarterMotor) “Visiting the BMH facility and meeting the team was both inspirational and heart-warming. Having been in the automotive industry for 40 years, it was great to see some of the ‘old ways’ being executed with care and precision. I’m delighted to be collaborating with BMH and look forward to working with them to nurture the next generation of classic car enthusiasts and professionals.”
